Wanaka to Franz Joseph

Had a lovely drive from Wanaka to Franz Joseph spending one night in Haast.  Everything in New Zealand is said to be "cool", "sweet as", "good as gold" or "awesome" which I think describes the scenery.  Said I would never use the word awesome but it really does describe New Zealand.  The Haast Pass was particularly amazing, although we were pleased to see the coast again - 10 days away from the sea seemed a long time for us!

Lake Hawea

Lunch break - unfortunately millions of sandflies
No - he didn't swim!
Fantail Falls

Gates of Haast
One of several Hopuhopu Dolphins we saw in the surf at
Ship Creek - these are the world's smallest dolphins but honestly there were several!
Knights Point
Bruce Bay

Fox Glacier
Very scary footbridge we had to cross to get a geocache at Fox Glacier

  1. Not so sure I would have gone for it - you may have had to blindfold me and carry Molly!!
